As of January 1, 2025, Mövenpick Wein Schweiz AG has a new CEO. As previously reported by the German business news outlet Handelszeitung in late November 2024 and now confirmed by the company, Gernot Haack stepped down at the end of 2024 after 15 years at the helm. He has been succeeded by Nikolas von Haugwitz, who is already listed as CEO on Mövenpick’s website.

Von Haugwitz aims to merge the company’s traditional strengths with the opportunities of digitalization, striving to shape the wine trade of the future, according to Mövenpick Wein.

This marks a return to Switzerland for von Haugwitz, who previously served as CEO of St. Jakobskellerei Schuler & Cie AG from 2019 to 2023 before leaving due to strategic differences. Most recently, he held a leadership role at Vom Fass AG in Germany.

“The wine trade is at a turning point,” von Haugwitz stated. “My goal is to combine Mövenpick Wein’s exceptional wine expertise and customer proximity across over 40 locations with the potential of digitalization. This will allow us to create unique shopping experiences that seamlessly integrate analog and digital touchpoints.”

Gernot Haack, under whose leadership Mövenpick significantly expanded its wine cellar retail network, has now transitioned to the company’s board of directors. As a board member, Haack will continue to “support the company’s strategic direction,” according to a press release from Mövenpick Wein.

Today, the Baar-based company operates 31 Mövenpick wine stores across Switzerland, 11 locations in Germany, and one in Liechtenstein. VM
