Cavit, which groups together 13 of the Trentino s large co-operatives and produces 70% of region s total wine output (72million bottles), has recently fallen out with one of its star co-ops LaVis. Cavit has accused LaVis of breaking their commercial agreement by selling directly a quantity of bulk wine to Gallo, one of Cavit s own clients. According to spokesman Marco Raengo of LaVis, no divorce is in force until the situation has been legally clarified. It is Raengo s opinion that this whole issue is being used to draw attention away from the imminent election of Cavit s new President and the turmoil of its internal politics.
