Exports of Italian sparkling wine to United States are predicted to reach some 15 million bottles this Christmas. This is a reflection of Italy´s total export boom for sparkling wines, which according the statistics of Italy´s Coldiretti reached
a new high of 100 million bottles over the past year. According to the Italian Food & Wine Institute , Italian `spumante´ now account for 30% of all sparkling wines sold in USA against French Champagne which is said to reach some 43% of all sales. Exports have also risen in Germany, Italy´s top market for sparkling wine, as well as in both Japan and France. Sales to Spain have doubled.
