Great Wine Capitals holds its annual meeting

This year s annual meeting of Great Wine Capitals took place in Mendoza (Argentina), which has only just been included in the group s worldwide network. Representatives from Melbourne (Australia), Bordeaux (France), San Francisco for the Napa Valley (USA), Porto (Portugal), Bilbao for Rioja (Spain), Capetown (South Africa) and Florence (Italy) came to Mendoza came to Mendoza to attend. Founded in 1998 to unify the economic centres of the wine business, the group s members form a network of institutions that have establish elations across their respective regions from local institutional representatives, members of the chamber of commerce, industry associations and universities to professional organisations of the wine business. Their mission is to work together to improve wine tourism and the international exchange between the wine centres. This year s Mendoza meeting was accompanied by tastings, work shops and an international viticultural symposium. Héctor Smud, CEO of ProMendoza was elected as the new president of the group. Next years meeting will take place in Porto.
