In a close vote, Adriano Orsi, 56, was elected president of the Cavit cooperative, Italy´s second largest wine producer. Carlo Malfatti, president of the Cantina Mezzolombardo will be vice president. In 2006 Cavit posted a turnover
of 172.1 million Euros, up 6.6 percent over 2005; after tax earnings rose in the same period by 250% to 6.4 million Euros. Just recently Cantina LaVis left the group in order to market their wines individually, leaving Cavit with 31,000 hectolitres less wine to offer after this vintage.
